Die Lupe als Brennglas

The magnifying glass as a burning glass

The magnifying glass as a burning glass - a safety risk (burning glass effect).

The converging lens of a magnifying glass can focus incident sunlight and thus also its energy density. Centered on a point, the temperature can rise to such an extent that easily combustible material, such as paper, can be ignited.

Therefore, when not in use, you should cover your magnifying lamp or otherwise store it away from light.
